Should I buy a desktop computer or laptop computer?

To answer this question you need to ask yourself a few questions, depending on the answers you can quickly come to the right conclusion. If you need a computer that you can take with you from place to place, the answer is obvious, you need a laptop. On the other side of the coin, if you plan to work on the computer in one spot, it will likely be more economical to use a desktop computer.

If you factor out these scenarios in general a desktop computer might give you better performance and a larger workspace (monitor(s)) than a traditional laptop. The performance gap between laptops and desktop computers has tightened over the past few years and a nice laptop can in many cases keep up with a desktop but you might have to pay a little more. If you plan to work on the computer 8 hours a day, it might be best to get a desktop (it will last longer), however just a couple hours of casual computer activity and a laptop might be the better option.
