Backup Hard Drives are essential for anyone who has data that they do not want to lose. Saving your files to a cloud should not be considered as enough. Files from a cloud can be removed from the source and destroyed as your computers sync with the cloud. For this reason it can be a good idea to run backups or create copies of your cloud.

A backup hard drive is usually an external drive that is connected by USB but can also be installed internally. It is not uncommon for users with precious data to have an internal backup and external backups stored in multiple locations in case of fire.
