External Hard Drives

External Hard Drives are very similar to internal hard drives however likely more user friendly to someone with little experience with computers. An external hard drive can be plugged into the front or back of your computer and will most likely use USB to pass data too and from the motherboard. This is very similar to installing a hard-drive in your computer but allows you to do it without taking the computer case apart.

External hard drives are most often used to backup a computer or to store large amounts of documents or photos. These drives can also be easy to transport as some are made to be portable so you can carry your documents from place to place.

Care will always want to be taken while transporting hard drives as they can become damaged and unusable when faced with physical damage.
